Getting started with Bill Pay

Bill Pay isn’t just convenient and secure, it results in savings on postage, late fees and checks, too. Enrolling in Bill Pay takes just a few clicks.  

Add a person or company to pay from a desktop computer:

  1. Log in to your account and click "Payments" in the menu
  2. Click the "+ New payee" button
  3. Select "Add a bill" to pay a business or "Add a person" to pay friends and family
  4. Enter the requested information

Add a person or company to pay from a mobile device:

  1. From the menu or dashboard select “Pay a bill”
  2. Click the "+" button
  3. Enter your password and tap “Submit”
  4. Select either Company or Person
  5. Enter requested information and tap “Submit"

Schedule or make a one-time or recurring payment from a mobile device:

  1. Find your payee on the payments dashboard
  2. Enter the payment amount and date
  3. Select "Frequency" if you want to setup recurring payments
  4. Click "submit"

Schedule or make a one-time or recurring payment from your desktop:

  1. Log into your account
  2. Find your payee on the payments dashboard 
  3. Select "Make a payment"
  4. Select "Frequency" if you want to setup recurring payments
  5. Enter the payment amount, date and submit 

eBills delivered online, not on paper

Have electronic versions of your bills delivered directly to your Online Bill Pay account. eBills contain the same information as paper bills, such as due date, balance and minimum payment amount. Once you set up an individual eBill for a company, an eBill comes directly from them to your account. Many credit card and cable companies, for example, offer this service. If a company offers eBill, there will be a “Setup eBill” link next to its listing on your Bill Pay dashboard.

Getting started with eBills

Signing up for eBills can be done through Online Banking on your desktop.

  1. Go to "Payments" in your menu and select "Manage payments"
  2. Under eBill Connect select "Set up an eBill" under your payees
  3. Enter your login credentials for the payee’s website
  4. Review the terms and conditions, then select “Accept and Submit”

Pay an eBill:

  1. From the dashboard, choose the account you want to pay from
  2. Enter the amount you want to pay
  3. Schedule when you want the payment delivered and submit

Set up recurring eBill payments:

  1. From the dashboard, select “Make it Recurring” under the “Actions” column
  2. Select the payment schedule you want
  3. Select your “Pay from” account, amount, frequency, first payment date and scheduling preferences
  4. Review and select “Submit”

Say hello to convenience with Voice Bill Pay

iPay QuickPay is the skill that lets you access your bill pay account on your Alexa-enabled device with a voice command. Once you’ve enabled the skill, you can ask Alexa to make a payment, provide payment history and check scheduled payments. You can also send money to a person simply by adding the person in Bill Pay.

Getting started with iPay QuickPay

You will need Bill Pay and an Alexa-enabled device to start using iPay QuickPay. 

Add Alexa to Bill Pay:

  1. Log in to your account on your desktop
  2. Select "Payments"
  3. Select "Manage Payments"
  4. Select the “My Account” tab
  5. Go to the Voice Bill Pay section (A) and select the “Add Alexa” link (B)
  6. Answer the challenge phrase questions
  7. Enter credentials and submit

Link your Bill Pay account to iPay QuickPay:

  1. Within the Alexa App on your mobile device, search for the iPay QuickPay skill and choose “Enable” (C)
  2. Enter the credentials you created in bill pay to begin linking your bill pay account to iPay QuickPay
  3. Create a 4-digit PIN that you will remember since it will be requested every time you launch iPay QuickPay
  4. Select “I agree, Link Account” to complete the account linking process
  5. Now you can say, “Alexa, start iPay QuickPay”

Make a payment with iPay QuickPay:

  1. Say, “Alexa, start iPay QuickPay”
  2. Provide your 4-digit PIN
  3. Tell Alexa the company or person you’d like to pay, the amount of the payment and the payment date
  4. Alexa will confirm your payment has been scheduled

Pay a Person is FREE for Century Bank customers with a checking or savings account. Simply follow these easy steps:

Send money from Online Banking:

  1. Log into Online Banking
  2. Go to “Payments” in the menu
  3. Select “Pay a Person”
  4. Click the “+ Add another person”
  5. Follow the prompts to add a contact to pay

 Send money from the Century Bank App*:

  1. Log into our mobile app
  2. Go to “Payments” in the menu
  3. Select “Make a payment”
  4. Select the “+” symbol in the top right corner and then select “Person”
  5. Follow the prompts to add a contact to pay

Q: Who can I pay with Online Bill Pay?
A: You can pay almost any business or person with a mailing address within the United States and Puerto Rico. 

Q: How are online payments delivered?
A: Payments are sent either electronically or by paper checks. Most payments are delivered electronically. Your payment information, such as your account number, is sent via secure transmission. All other payments are made by paper checks that are mailed via the U.S. Postal Service.

Q: Is Bill Pay secure?
A: Online Bill Pay helps guard against identity theft from lost or stolen checkbooks, bills and statements. It also increases your privacy because only you can access your account information, account numbers and payments history. As a result, you maintain tighter control of your account with real-time access to your payments activity.

Q: How long does it take before my payment is received?
A: Generally, payments are received within 2 to 7 days, depending on whether it is sent electronically or via paper check.

Q: How are the scheduled payments processed with Bill Pay?
A: Most scheduled payments are sent electronically and funds are withdrawn from your account on the payment date.

Q: Will I still receive paper statements when I have eBill?
A: You may continue to receive paper statements for two or three billing cycles. Contact your billing company for more details on their paper statement policy.

Q: How do I pay an eBill?
A: Choose the account you want to pay from, enter the amount you want to pay and schedule when you want the payment delivered.

Q: How do I know when I have received an eBill?
A: You can sign up to receive an electronic notice to alert you when an eBill has been delivered to your account. You can receive these notices in the form of emails or text alerts to provide an extra reminder when a payment is due.

Q: What information do I need to Pay a Person?
A: You only need either the cell phone number or email address for the person you’re paying.

 Q: Why is a keyword used when setting up a new Pay a Person?
A: The keyword is used by the person you are paying to securely provide their account information.

 Q: What is the activation code for setting up a new person in Pay a Person?
A: A one-time activation code is required before being able to send payments to a new person. You can instantly have the code sent to your email or phone.

 Q: What information is sent to the person I’m paying with Pay a Person?
A: An email or text message is sent indicating that you want to make a payment to them. A link is provided with instructions for them to securely enter their account information. Our customer service information is also provided, should that person need assistance. None of your personal account information never shared or accessible by them.

 Q: Do I have to send a link every time I want to send a payment?
A: No. Once you’ve paid someone, they won’t need to submit their account information again.

 Q: Can I make recurring payments?
A: Yes. You can even schedule ongoing payments. It’s great for paying your weekly dog walker or monthly rent. If a person’s account information changes, you just need to send them a link to provide their new account information.

 Q: Is Pay a Person secure?
A: Yes. Unlike other instant payment services, Pay a Person comes with the high level security and protection of Century Bank.

 Q: Are there any fees for using Pay a Person?
A: No. Pay a Person is a free service provided by Century Bank.
